Windows Cannot Open This File – the error message that has stressed out countless computer users.

Most often it comes up at the worst possible time – right when your report is due, your presentation is coming up, or your family has come to visit. But there’s a way around this message.

When Windows tells you that it cannot open a file, there are two important facts you can take from this.

Windows doesn’t know what the file is.

Windows doesn’t have the necessary program required to open the file.

The average computer user is stumped. There are thousands of types of files, and just as many programs that can open them. How can you know the file you have? Open My PPT specializes in helping you open your PPT file, but what if you don’t even know which file you have?

You can check out our guide on how to identify your file, but there’s an even easier way.

FileCure, created by ParetoLogic, is a software program that makes opening your files easy as 1, 2, 3.

Download and install FileCure. Get the download link from our sidebar, or click here.

Run a scan of your tricky file. You can simply drag and drop the file for a quick scan

Follow the prompts, and FileCure will tell you exactly what your file is, and how you can open it

Why struggle and search the web in the hopes of figuring out your file?

Why try program after program to open it?

FileCure tells you, in plain language, what you can do to open the file.

The best part of all – it doesn’t matter what the file is, FileCure will still help you open it. So what are you waiting for? Open your file now!

Not sure if your file is a PPT file or not? There’s a quick way to check.

But default, Windows does not always display the file extension of common file types. So, if your file is called “presentation.ppt” it will appear only as “presentation.” Because of this, it is hard to tell what the file is, and how to open it.

To display the file extension, follow these quick steps:

Open any folder

Click Tools

Click Folder Options

Click the View tab

Find the option called Hide extensions for known file types

Remove the check mark

Click Apply

You will now be able to see at a glance which file types you have, and if you have a ppt file.

If you encounter any difficulties with these steps, special software can also be used to automatically identify the file. FileCure is a unique program which allows you to scan your file, and get information about what it is and how to open it.

You can download FileCure from the sidebar top the right, or by clicking here.

After downloading and installing FileCure, simply drag and drop your tough-to-open file onto the FileCure screen.

A full scan will automatically begin, and the advanced software will tell you, in a few short seconds, what your file is and how to open it.

The ease and user-friendliness of FileCure makes it a recommended choice for novices and those without special computer knowledge.
