Not sure if your file is a PPT file or not? There’s a quick way to check.

But default, Windows does not always display the file extension of common file types. So, if your file is called “presentation.ppt” it will appear only as “presentation.” Because of this, it is hard to tell what the file is, and how to open it.

To display the file extension, follow these quick steps:

  • Open any folder
  • Click Tools
  • Click Folder Options
  • Click the View tab
  • Find the option called Hide extensions for known file types
  • Remove the check mark
  • Click Apply

You will now be able to see at a glance which file types you have, and if you have a ppt file.

If you encounter any difficulties with these steps, special software can also be used to automatically identify the file. FileCure is a unique program which allows you to scan your file, and get information about what it is and how to open it.

Download FileCure now to open your PPT filesYou can download FileCure from the sidebar top the right, or by clicking here.

After downloading and installing FileCure, simply drag and drop your tough-to-open file onto the FileCure screen.

A full scan will automatically begin, and the advanced software will tell you, in a few short seconds, what your file is and how to open it.

The ease and user-friendliness of FileCure makes it a recommended choice for novices and those without special computer knowledge.
